Our “now or never” story

Welcome,

We are Chiara — a French teacher with a deep love for traveling, house swapping, and interior decor — and Roberto — an artisan with a keen passion for restoring old cars.

In 2022 we said goodbye to Italy, searching for a simpler, more fulfilling life close to the ocean.

We found our “slow life” in this warm and authentic home called Algarve.

With our kids grown up, we decided it was now or never. This dream became reality when we found Casa Il Melograno, a ruin ready to rise from its own rubble. After countless hours of work, patience, and sweat, it is now our little oasis of paradise.

Nestled in the historic village of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, perched on the hills of Faro, Casa Il Melograno reflects our love for authenticity, comfort, and interior design.

Our lovingly restored 100-year-old traditional quinta has a modern and cozy touch. We love relaxing in the infinity pool, soak in the breathtaking views, and enjoy an atmosphere where everything is both so curated and raw.

With Roberto being the ultimate tuttofare (handyman), we crafted some of the furniture you’ll find here.

Lastly, the name Casa Il Melograno means "House of the Pomegranate" in Italian, as that’s the tree standing majestically in our garden.

Casa Il Melograno isn’t just a bed and breakfast; it’s our heart and soul—a place we love to share, and can’t wait to share with you.
